The Purpose of Hopeful Prayer – Week One

"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." - James 5:16b[hr]Availing Through Prayer A key purpose of hopeful prayer is to ‘avail much’! Availing means to have or exercise force. Much means abundantly or in every way. Availing Prayer must be Intentional In order to avail, we must set out with the purpose of accomplishing something. In order for us to avail, or exercise force against something in a great or abundant way. Our prayers must be focused! Our prayers must be effective! Our prayers must be fervent! Availing Prayer must be Forceful The words translated effective and... Read more >>

The Lifeline of Prayer

I learned to depend on the Lord early in my childhood. During those turbulent years, my mother held our little family together. Though she wasn’t a Christian at the time, she knew that she needed all the help she could get as she raised her children. So she sent my brother and me to church every Sunday, and it was there that I was introduced to Jesus Christ and invited Him into my heart. As I learned how to pray and began speaking to the Lord, I sensed His love and care for me. Amid the chaos of our disintegrating family,... Read more >>

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Hard to believe it is 2013. It is quite amazing when you think about it that another year is in the history books and you contributed to the greater story. Luke summed it up in Acts 2:42, by telling us that “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Inspired teaching, fellowship, eating together or sharing communion, and praying. Does that describe our churches today?  If someone new were to attend our services, and asked to describe what they had experienced, what would they say? Would ‘they devoted themselves to prayer’... Pray for Hope Pilgrimage

The Pray for Hope Pilgrimage to Israel, December 3-13, 2012, was a bucket list trip for me. I am so thankful to my Lord for making the way for me to go to the land of the Bible specifically: At this time, just days away from rockets and drones colliding over this conflicted land of the past, present and future. To go with other believers who intentionally came to pray in this land and for it’s present day people. To go with the Center for Holy Land Studies tour that married a deep experience of the places and happenings from... Read more >>
