Our Pastors' Families

The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. 1 Timothy 5:17 As we continue the theme of Pastor’s Appreciation Month, the scripture reminds us that leaders in the church, especially those who ‘work hard at preaching and teaching’ are worthy of ‘double honor’ – in context, the Apostle Paul is telling us to show them ‘much honor’ in both relationship and in provision for them AND their families.  Your pastor’s families are the unsung heroes of the local church, serving and sacrificing in ways that most... A Special Ministry Update from Kathy Branzell

As I write this letter, I cannot help but reflect on what an unprecedented, and unpredictable year that we are experiencing. Just a few short months ago, we would never have imagined the challenges we would face – as well as the glory of God that we have experienced this year – and the impact that they would have on our individual lives, churches, ministry organizations, and businesses.  We have all had to learn how to ‘pivot’; leaning into prayer at every turn and change to overcome the obstacles and take advantage of every opportunity that has come our way. We... Read more >>

Praying For Pastors & Churches in the Midst of a Pandemic

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:17-19a Marie Kondo instructs that the best way to clean out a closet is to take everything out and only put back the things that “spark... Special Days of Prayer: Praying for America and Jerusalem

Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:1-3 NIV There is a renewed hope in the hearts of many Christians as we prayed together this past weekend in Washington D.C. and across America. Gatherings like The Return, the Prayer March, on-going 10 Days of Awe, 40 Days of Love, Re-digging the Wells of Revival and many more gatherings came together on this amazing... Read more >>

Praying During a Divisive Election

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:5-6) Every election season brings a certain degree of anxiety or uneasiness. The national elections of 2020 are bringing out, what seems to me, a greater level of anxiety and even anger than most election cycles. That’s why I wrote, “Praying For An Election: A Non-Partisan, Scripture-based Prayer Guide.” I’m seeing a number of choices being made. Some develop a posture of being above it all: “Jesus is... Introducing the National Day of Prayer 2021 Theme

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. My heart is full of joy and gratefulness as we just wrapped up our 2020 National Day of Prayer Coordinator’s Summit. This three-day virtual meeting was filled with prayer, inspiration from God’s Word and devotional messages from some of our leadership team. The days and evenings also included the introductions of new staff and National Area Leaders, information, project and partnership updates, vital training to equip our coordinators, and the announcement of our 2021 National Day of Prayer theme that... Lest We All Forget

The morning of September 11th, 2001 will forever be etched into my memory. I turned 41 that day, and like most birthdays the day began with thoughts and plans about celebrating that evening with my family. I couldn’t wait. Since it was a Tuesday, I got up early and made my way to our church building to pray with our men’s prayer group. As we finished up, the church staff was just getting in, and someone asked if we had heard about what had happened in New York – we turned on the television and watched in shock and disbelief... Prayer in the Workplace

Many people pray for their family but forget to bring their workplace activities to the Lord. My experiences, however, have proven to me that prayer, wrapped in bold faith, is an important help to your workplace. Matthew 21:22 says, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Years ago, I started a consulting practice that struggled to reach profitability. Eventually, we had exhausted our resources and although it wasn’t much money, we needed $1,750 within a week to cover our company bills. My wife and I fervently prayed for $1,750. On the last day of that... Read more >>

Willing and Doing His Good Pleasure

In these unprecedented, unusual, and unpredictable days that we are experiencing, we find our hope and encouragement in God’s Word, and in the truth that God is at work in us and through us to accomplish His will in our lives and on this earth. “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 We are particularly excited to introduce the two latest additions to the National Day of Prayer Task Force staff. These two women embody this scripture, as their hearts are humbly focused on allowing God to use the... Read more >>
