Happy New Year!
Another trip around the sun and another year is done. 2026 is a special year as America celebrates 250 years since we declared our independence, severing every controlling political connection from the King and Great Britain. We will also celebrate the 75th observance of The National Day of Prayer since it became a law and further declared our dependence on God.
The New Year brings a traditional opportunity to reset our habits, lifestyle, and priorities. People often make a New Year’s resolution that sadly, statistics show, will quickly be dismissed within the first few weeks of the new year. We lack perseverance or commitment to take the change seriously and reflects its lack of importance in our lives. Have you considered some things you would like to change? Are you still pondering what you would like to see done in 2026?
What if this year you decided to do something extraordinary, something that would absolutely change your entire life in ways you have not even imagined? This year we want to encourage you to take time to align everything in your life with God’s will and purposes. I know that sounds impossible, but it is not. God never calls or commands us to do anything that He has not already prepared for you and will guide you through. All that He is, all of His love, all of His promises are ours to do His will if we decide not to just quit something but submit everything and glorify God in our earthly lives on our journey to heaven.
To begin this time to align, take some time to ponder and write down what you “will” consists of currently. Our will includes things like our desires, priorities, pursuits, relationships, and perspectives. Imagine aligning all of these with God’s plans, blessings, purpose, opportunities, accomplishments, etc. for your life and His Kingdom.
Next week we will begin, “A Season of Seeking.”
Together we will seek God and His will, His ways, in His Word that teach us what it means to abide in Him and glorify Him with our entire lives.
This will not happen overnight, but every night we will have the opportunity to go to sleep better than we were when we woke up, because we set our sights and submitted our will to God, one decision, one day, at a time.
I pray this does not feel daunting to you, but delights your heart to know His mercies are new EVERY morning, not just New Year’s morning. God continues to perfect, complete establish and strengthen us every day as He sanctifies and shapes us in the character of Christ as we seek Him.

Lord, thank You for life. Jesus, You came to give us abundant life, leading us, speaking and showing us what it means to abide in You and align our will, our ways with Yours. It is to our Father’s glory that we bear much fruit and apart from You our accomplishment, accolades, all we acquire and desire, are worthless. Lord please help us, strengthen us to delight in doing Your will. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth and in our lives every day as it is in heaven. Please lead us in this time to align all of our love and life with You. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen!
