Overflowing With Gratitude

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. Colossians 2:6-7 NASB

May 5th was the National Day of Prayer! If there is any statement to describe my heart right at this moment, it is “OVERFLOWING with gratitude!” I pray that you have paused to exalt the Lord and to pray for America. America needs God, we all need God, and I pray that as millions of Christians praised God yesterday that God was glorified, hearts were strengthened, and hope was restored.

We gathered together to “Exalt the Lord Who Has Established Us.” In tens of thousands of prayer gatherings across America, hearts and voices lifted praise to God and intercession for our cities, states, neighbors and nation.

On May 5th at 8:00 ET we streamed our National Day of Prayer Broadcast from our website, www.nationaldayofprayer.org and we are grateful that it also aired on Christian television, streaming, and radio stations around the world. Pause for a moment and imagine the sweet sound of praise filling heaven and delighting the heart of our Heavenly Father. Stand still for another moment, don’t rush away, linger with the angels and cry out “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty!” Feel peace and push out all anxiety, let joy overtake pain, and embrace the love of God as He wraps you in the security and affection that you were created to receive in Christ Jesus and walk in every day. I pray that you will re-watch this impactful broadcast; agreeing in the prayers that are prayed and adding some of your own throughout the broadcast.

In addition, I want to ask you to add to our joy by sharing your testimony, your glory story with us. As you prayerfully process all that you experienced and prayed through the broadcast, would you send us an email and share something that captured or strengthened your heart as you prayed? What does it mean to you to live in a nation that has The National Day of Prayer as a law for the past 70 years? We often say, “Prayer is caught not taught,” we learn to pray more deeply and intimately by hearing the prayers of other people. Did you hear a prayer today that “caught” you and that will bring a new power or practice to your prayer life? We want to hear your glory stories and testimonies as well as your prayer requests so we can overflow with gratitude as we continue to pray for you. Sent these testimonies to glory.story@nationaldayofprayer.org

If you organized one of the tens of thousands of local events on the National Day of Prayer, please share your experiences and photos with us here: https://volunteer.nationaldayofprayer.org/eventsurvey/

Thank you for praying with us and for us throughout the year, many of you pray every day with us and we thank God for you! The National Day of Prayer is the celebration and culmination of 364 other days of prayer; we pray the National Day of Prayer launches daily praise and prayer as we continue to “Exalt The Lord Who Has Established Us.”

Will you continue to pray with me now?

Lord Jesus, we exalt You! You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, our Redeemer, Sustainer, Deliverer, Defender, the Author of our days and Perfecter of our Faith. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to You and we praise your Mighty Name. You have established Your throne in Heaven, the foundations of the earth, and the work of our hands. You are worthy of all praise, and You inhabit the praise of Your people. Lord, we pray that that National Day of Prayer launched a lifetime and lifestyle of praise in millions of people around the world; that as people were reminded of how Great and powerful, and Mighty, and loving You are that their hope was restored, their resolve to live for You was strengthened, that division was healed and that many came to know You as their Lord and Savior. May Your praise stay on our lips every day as we overflow with gratitude for today. In Jesus precious and powerful name we pray, Amen!

Serving Him with Gladness,
