Victory Christian Church will be hosting National Day of Prayer at the NYS Capital in the Capital Park West, (next to the food vendors).
Join us for a meaningful morning of reflection, fellowship, and prayer at the National Day of Prayer Brunch, hosted by New York Families Foundation. The special gathering will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Capital Convention Center.
Each year, the National Day of Prayer invites Americans to seek God’s guidance and blessings for our nation. This brunch offers a unique opportunity for community leaders, pastors, elected officials, and concerned citizens to intercede for New York and the nation.
The 2026 National Day of Prayer theme—“Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations” (1 Chronicles 16:24)—calls us to lift our eyes with confidence and to declare God’s faithfulness. It reminds us that every generation has a role in honoring Him and shaping what comes next. As New Yorkers, we have a unique opportunity to be part of that story—bringing faith, courage, and conviction to the challenges facing our state.
Attendees will enjoy a light brunch, hear encouraging remarks, and participate in guided prayer. Together, we will ask God to renew our communities, strengthen families, and guide those entrusted with leadership in Albany and across the Empire State. This will be a time not only to reflect but also to be refreshed and reminded that God is at work in our nation and in New York.
Whether you are actively engaged in public life or simply feel a burden to see God move, you are invited to be part of this hope-filled morning.
It is recommended that guests park in the Albany Capital Convention Center Parking Garage.
There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required.

This sacred gathering will bring together churches, leaders, and members of our community in a unified spirit of prayer, worship, and reflection. In a time when our city and nation face many challenges, we believe deeply in the power of coming together as one lifting our voices in faith, humility, and hope.
Prayer is the foundation of guidance, wisdom, and strength. Scripture reminds us that when we call upon God with sincere hearts, He hears us and responds. It is through prayer that we seek peace, restoration, and direction not only for ourselves, but for our communities and those entrusted with leadership.
This gathering will be a Spirit-led time of worship, marked by heartfelt prayer, unity, and reverence for God’s presence. It is not about politics or denominations, but about coming together in love, as one city, under God.
Come and join us as we worship the Lord and pray for our town, state, and country during this 250th Anniversary as a Nation and our 75th National Observance of the National Day of Prayer.

Our National Day of Prayer event is a two pronged approach. The Way Ministries has partnered with Hope Christian Fellowship to put this event together. At 6:00 PM at Hope Christian Fellowship, across from the Post Office will host a time of worship followed by prayer in the church. Those that would like to walk are encouraged to meet at the corner of Peterboro Street and Railroad Street at 6:30. This group that is walking will walk and pray through the village ending at the Canastota High School. Both groups will be praying for the same topics. If weather is inclement, we will meet at Hope Christian Fellowship and pray there.
Let us not grow wearing in our praying for our nation and community that has been entrusted to us. We believe that if you can and are able to walk with us please do. It sends another message when we pray through the community and claim the ground that is ours in Christ Jesus.

Monthly Community Prayer in front of Friendship Central School at 8:30AM, Thursday, May 7, will coincide with the 75th Anniversary of the National Day of Prayer (NDP).
The first Thursday of the month event, hosted by the What God is Doing in Friendship ny alliance of participating churches, is to pray for the school, its students, teachers, other staff, the Board of Education, parents and caregivers, and others.
The school's Monthly Character Trait for May - Empathy: The ability to understand another person's thoughts and feelings in a situation from their point of view, rather than your own - also will be a focus as churches encourage their congregants and the community at large to reenforce this teaching through their own actions.
The session then will move across the street to the Bible Baptist Church at 43 West Main Street for a free light breakfast, provided by Followers of the Way - Nile Community Church, where the NDP focus will be on divine guidance, wisdom, and spiritual healing for and in America, centered on seven pillars of influence, including the government, military, media, business, education, church, and family.
This year’s theme will be Glorify God Among the Nations - Seeking Him in All Generations, based on the verse - Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples - from 1 Chronicles 16:24 (NASB) of the Bible.
A second prayer gathering will be at 11:30AM at the First United Methodist Church at 21 West Main Street for a light public luncheon, provided by Bible Baptist Church.
This year, a special presentation will be made by Alfred State architecture students as to potential development of The Mission House Family Center at 30 East Main Street, former site of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, rectory and offices, for greater community benefit.
This will be followed by NDP-focused prayer.
A third, evening prayer gathering, coinciding with the Bible Baptist Church’s regular Thursday night prayer and Bible study, will be held at 6:30PM at the church.
Anyone within the greater community and beyond is invited to participate in any or all of these prayer events and to bring others with them.
The monthly prayer gatherings at the school were started three years ago by the alliance of churches at the beginning of that school year.
Origins of the National Day of Prayer began in 1952 when Congress approved legislation requiring the President to set aside and proclaim a suitable day each year, other than a Sunday, as a National Day of Prayer, on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.
In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed additional legislation specifically establishing the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.

The What God is Doing in Friendship ny alliance of participating churches will host the event, one of three diverse activities during the day which will involve this year's national NDP theme of Glorify God Among the Nations - Seeking Him in All Generations, based on the verse - Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples - from 1 Chronicles 16:24 (NASB) of the Bible.

We believe that as we pull together in prayer as God's Kingdom on Earth, and in Niagara Falls, that he will move in mighty ways. We need that for our world, as the state we are in together is much larger than any of us can address appropriately. We must pray for our world, our nation, our state, our county, our communities - for God to move. In Niagara Falls, we believe that our Lord of Angel Armies is able to push back the principalities of darkness which have had too-long a hold on Western New York, such that this world renown cataract (the Falls) will no longer be a place where people are drawn to some supposed spiritual vortex, no longer drawn to a place to end their lives by suicide... but rather that this mighty Niagara River would remind us of, and point us to the throne-room of JaHWeH where His mighty and rejuvenating river which emanates from under his throne, a river which replenishes and feeds the nations and the world with life and hope which are only found in Jesus, our Savior. May God's Spirit invigorate and enliven us to pray as one Church in service to Him. May we see that the fields are ripe for harvest, and may we see a great revival as we come together, repent and earnestly seek our Lord together.
