This year's gathering will be held twice in one day at the same location; at 12:00pm noon and the second one at 6:00 pm. It will be held at the Famers Market Pavillion in Abingdon, the address is 100 Remsburg Drive, Abingdon VA, It is on the corner of Cummings Street and Remsburg Drive.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Lift up the Word-Light up the World.” The theme verse is 2 Samuel 22:29-31which says, “ For You are my lamp, O LORD; The LORD shall enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop; By my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”

 It is important that all the churches in Washington county be informed of this event and participate as we come together to cry out not the Lord for many things on this day. I wanted to include a couple of quotes to think on: "Prayer makes a godly man, and puts within him the mind of Christ, the mind of humility, of self-surrender, of service, of pity, and of prayer. If we really pray, we will become more like God, or else we will quit praying." - E.M. Bounds, "To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees." - Billy Graham.

With your help, we can make an eternal difference in our community, state, nation, and the world through the prayers on this wonderful day, May 2nd. Please join us and be a blessing to our community.

Pastor's from Christiansburg, Virginia, will host a public gathering at the Safety Plaza outside the Montgomery County Sheriff's office at the intersection of Main and Franklin Streets in downtown Christiansburg.  There will be facilitated prayer in large groups to pray for our nation, state, and city, as well as families & rising generations and unity among Christians and citizens.  We will also have time in small groups, giving every participant an opportunity, to pray for the NDOP centers of influence: military/law enforcement, medical community, education, business/economy, athletics, entertainment industry/media and freedom from addictions.  There will be patriotic medley's and hymns to remind of us the freedom we are given to gather and pray.

Get some spiritual food on your lunchbreak with encouragement and empowerment to be "salt and light" (Matthew 5:13-16) in our society as we pray for our federal, state, and local governments and community.

How many times have we heard people (including many pastors) say: "I'll pray for you" or "I'll pray about it," but do nothing else?  It's the path of least resistance: they'd rather not stand up against anything too "controversial" (for example, speaking out against local governments' elected officials' tolerance and support of the obscene, perverse, and sexually explicit books for children and teens in our public libraries and schools bought and loaned with OUR tax money - and the increasing intolerance of Judeo-Christian values to restore Community Standards of Decency).

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness into light and light into darkness, who change bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter! - Isaiah 5:20

“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf[a] is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea." - Matthew 18: 5-6

Ironically, some church leaders (who are supposed to the first and last lines of defense of moral society) are offended when the remnant of Christ publicly calls out in righteous anger their complacency - the pastors admonishing them to have the "love and peace of Christ."  WHERE in God's Word does it say for His people to be weak and not take a stand and speak out against evil and corruption? Did Jesus Christ not drive out the merchants from His Father's temple? Where there not holy wars? We are in a spiritual battle here and now.

"What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless." - James 2:14-17

There is power in prayer, but it also takes men and women of integrity taking thoughtful action who make a positive difference in this dark world!  

National Unity Weekend is honored to partner with National Day of Prayer by hosting a special gathering at Grace Church on Thursday, May 2nd. Join us at 7 PM, as we unite in prayer for our communities, government, churches and nation in observance of National Day of Prayer.

During this gathering, we will engage in a time of prayer; seeking God's guidance and favor for our nation. We will then tune into a live broadcast, hosted by National Day of Prayer at 8p. Together, we will stand as intercessors, witnessing a powerful outpouring of unity and intercession for our nation.

Come join us for the 15th Annual National Day of Prayer at the Goode Rescue Squad located at 9261 Forest Road in Goode, Virginia. Event will start at 8 am with a light breakfast of muffins, fruit bowl, coffee and orange juice. The program will be from to 8:30 to 10 am. We will have a speaker representing our military, a guest speaker and seven Pastors praying for the seven centers of prayer.

Urgent prayer meeting for America and Israel!

Everyone is welcome to gather around the flagpoles in front of Marion’s Town Hall for the annual community commemoration.   A history of the event will be presented, followed by prayers offered by attending clergy representing churches throughout the community.

Lift Up the World - Light Up the World (2 Sam 22:29-31)

Come and join us at Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church located at 205 Gust Lane, Portsmouth VA.  We will be praying for churches worldwide, missionaries, families, government, schools and for the unsaved to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. 

This will be held at The Well Coffeehouse. At this venue we worship with live Christian music every Friday and Saturday evening 6 to 9pm. There are 4 Bible studies each week and we will be dedicating our Thursday, May 2nd Bible study time to the National Day of Prayer. We hope that people will come by after work to pray with us.

 Our program will include a special portrayal by Theresa Gee of VA civil rights leader, Barbara Johns. We will have community leaders lead out in prayer in the 7 areas of influence - government, military, media, business, education, church, and families followed by small group prayer in each of these areas. Special music will be provided by Banner Christian School.

The National Day of Prayer Assembly for downtown Roanoke will begin at 12 Noon on May 2

in the sanctuary of the West End Methodist Church. The Mayor of Roanoke, or a council representative will read the NDP Proclamation. There will be prayers for our health and nation. prayers for our nation, songs of worship. lunch follows in the fellowship hall. Open to everyone.  

Come gather with us as we join others across our nation in prayer for our country and its people.  Our guest speaker will be  Daniel Ritchie: evangelist, motivational speaker and author from Wake Forest, NC.  He has spoken nationally and internationally to churches, colleges, seminaries, conferences, and professional sports teams.  Daniel is the author of two books: "My Affliction for His Glory" and "Endure".  He is a husband to Heather and daddy of two children.  Mr. Ritchie was born without arms but God has given him the opportunity and call to speak to over 200,000 people each year sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as what he has learned by being born visibly different.
