The Power of Prayer

Days before ringing in the new year, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams ran a two-part report titled “Power of Prayer” — an overview of medical evidence revealing the positive, even miraculous, outcomes from believers praying. The daily evening program, with more than 9.3 million viewers on average, is America’s most watched newscast. In the report, investigative correspondent Cynthia McFadden interviews Father John Murray — a Catholic priest who stunned doctors by recovering from severe paralysis. The only remedy he can point to is he and his church community’s focused, sustained prayers. “I was paralyzed from my chest down,” says Murray. “‘You should... Read more >>
Happy New Year!

John BornscheinHappy New Year! Hard to believe it is 2015. It is quite amazing when you think about it that another year is in the history books and you contributed to the greater story. That’s right – every action you make has an outcome that impacts potentially generations to come. It is not our story but HIS story we are blessed to be a part of – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). I am... Read more >>
The Lord is Our Provider
I am so thankful for the many valuable lessons my father, Arthur S. DeMoss, taught me about a biblical perspective on money and material possessions. As both a successful businessman and an earnest follower of Jesus Christ, he was a living illustration of those principles. As I look back on my dad’s life, I see several reasons for the blessing of God on his life:1. He put God first, above everything else. He believed that the greatest wealth was knowing God. This priority was evident as he gave the first hour of every day to the study of God’s Word...

Heralding Jesus

Recently, I was reading an article with a quote about Jesus that has burdened me deeply. The person being quoted did not believe in Jesus as the New Testament teaches about our Savior. In fact, his use of our Savior's name was in such a casual, slang description that I felt my heart hurt for my Lord, my Redeemer. How the world looks at Jesus, the Name above all names must certainly grieve Him to be so misunderstood, so missed in relevancy. He created us - is ignored - and then His very name is used in a slang derogatory... Read more >>

As we reflect on His incarnation, I pray you and your loved ones make some wonderful Christmas memories and draw ever closer to our Lord. This special time of year always brings to mind the lengths to which our Savior went to secure an eternal relationship with us. Scripture reminds us again and again that God desires to interact with us on... Read more >>

Calling People to Their Knees

Shirley DobsonI learned to depend on the Lord early in my childhood. During those turbulent years, my mother held our little family together. Though she wasn’t a Christian at the time, she knew she needed all the help she could get as she raised her children. So she sent my brother and me to church every Sunday, and it was there that I was introduced to Jesus Christ and invited Him into my heart. As I learned how to pray and began speaking to the Lord, I sensed His love and care for me. Amid the chaos of our disintegrating family,... Read more >>
