Praying For A Culture of Life in America

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

From the beginning of our nation, our founders prayed, sought and fought for a culture that embodied, embraced, and encouraged LIFE. In our Declaration of Independence, we all agree as citizens of the United States, that “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  These founding sentiments were focused on the LIFE that can only be ‘endowed by their Creator,’ the one described in the Holy Bible, the Word of God – the LIFE that only Jesus can give.

January 29th is the date for this year’s National March for Life. Millions have marched in our nation’s capital in years past, and millions will join this year’s virtual march because, as their website reflects, “We march because we envision a future world where the beauty and dignity of every human life are valued and protected – and we promote the beauty and dignity of every human life by working to end abortion—uniting, educating, and mobilizing pro-life people in the public square.”

In light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic which may be peaking, and in view of the heightened pressures that law enforcement officers and others are currently facing in and around the Capitol, this year’s March for Life will look different. The annual rally will take place virtually and March for Life is asking all participants to stay home and to join the March virtually. They will invite a small group of pro-life leaders from across the country to march in Washington, DC this year. These leaders will represent pro-life Americans everywhere who, each in their own unique ways, work to make abortion unthinkable and build a culture where every human life is valued and protected. Let’s pray today, and each day, as the March for Life approaches – Lord, we pray for this nation and this culture, that we would re-dedicate ourselves to be the culture of life that we proclaim in our declaration, life that is valued and protected, every human life, born or unborn. We pray that you would pour Your love and life out on the people in our nation, open our nation’s eyes to the love, life and liberty that only Jesus can give. Forgive us our disregard for the sanctity of life ­– show us Your way, Your truth, and Your LIFE. In Jesus name, Amen.
