Then all the people departed each to his house, and David returned to bless his household .
1 Corinthians 16:43 NAS
Thank you for joining us for the 2026 National Day of Prayer! We are so grateful for the thousands of gatherings that took place on May 7th and all of the “Glory Stories” we are receiving from our coordinators and prayer partners across America. Please share your glory story with us and of course we would love to see and share your pictures. If you didn’t get a chance to watch our National Day of Prayer Broadcast, or you want to see it again, it is available on our website at nationaldayofprayer.org
As we read and studied 1 Chronicles 15 and 16 together over the past several months, our prayer gathering give us a sense of the joy and worship that was taking place as King David, the Levites and all of Jerusalem brought the ark of God into Jerusalem and set it in the tent that David had prepared for it. This tent was supplied with selected people of many talents to worship God before the ark day and night. At the end of chapter 16 as the day of dedication, sacrifices, songs and prayer comes to a close, verse forty-three tells us, “Then all the people departed each to his house, and David returned to bless his household.”
What a beautiful way to end a beautiful day, to worship, pray ,and be fully dedicated to the Lord in the power of His presence and then to go home and take all of that through your own door and fill your home with the same spirit that filled your heart as you worshipped that day. I pray that as you departed from your local prayer gathering on May 7th that you carried a new and renewed spirit to glorify God in all you think, say and do. To pause and take every thought captive and ask, “Does this thought glorify God?” and if it does not, rewrite it to bless Him and tell others of His glory and good deeds. We have the power to bring life and light into our hearts, homes, workplace, campus and every conversation by speaking glory-filled, hope-filled, faith-filled words that reflect the majesty of God and magnify our personal relationship with Him with great authenticity and defeating the accusations of hypocrisy. Bring a blessing into your home and wherever you go.
You may be thinking, “Well that’s easy for you to say, but you don’t know the people I live, work, and hang out with.” Friends, the attitudes of others, does not give us an excuse not to ascribe the glory that God is due. King David went home to bless his household which included a wife who, “despised him in her heart.” (1 Chron. 15:29) Bring the light into the darkness, bring love to hate, hope to the hurting and blessed assurance to the anxious every day as we also continue to pray for neighbor and nation.
Everlasting Father, God of all glory and praise, we worship You. May all we do in thought word and deed glorify You; Your wisdom, Your power, Your presence, Your love, and Your Spirit in us. We do not take our dedication to You lightly, but intentionally with all diligence, wherever we go and whoever we meet will see the light you call us to be and will hear of the reasons for our hope, the good deeds You have done, the greatness of You faithfulness and the abundant life promised and provided to us every day. We continue to seek You in every decision, situation, relationship, responsibility and opportunity no matter how easy or difficult they may seem. To You be the honor and glory forever and ever. In the glorious name of Jesus we pray, Amen!
Serving Him with gladness,
