Warm greetings to you from the National Day of Prayer Task Force! It is my privilege to pass along this word of thanks for your ongoing friendship and involvement in the National Day of Prayer, as well as to provide you with a glimpse into the ways God is working as we urge Americans to more fervent intercession for our nation. The past few years have been a time of great challenge and turmoil here in the United States and around the world, but the Lord has clearly used this period of uncertainty to lead His people to a greater awareness of our dependence upon Him.
Although the 2014 National Day of Prayer observance is still months away, my staff and I have begun preparing once again to call our fellow citizens to a day of prayer on behalf of this great land. On May 1, people will gather throughout the United States, at points abroad, and at our annual national observance in Washington, D.C. to raise their hearts and voices in a time of worship, repentance and petition. We are enthusiastic about the theme we’ve chosen for this year, One Voice, United in Prayer. It is inspired by the exhortation found in Romans 15:6: “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I believe that there has never been a time when this particular passage of Scripture has been more relevant!
NEW RESOURCES FOR 2014
It has become customary each year for us to offer new items geared toward enhancing an understanding of the importance of prayer and inspiring Americans to make it a priority to lift our nation and its leaders before the Lord each day. Toward that end, the following resources are now available through the National Day of Prayer Task Force:
- 2014 Complete Event Kit. We know times are tight so we have put together a complete kit that will help you host a large or small event on any budget. This kit includes, posters, prayer guides, bookmarks, wristbands, stickers, giveaways and more.
- Dual-Disc Planning Kit. In this digital world, this is a great resource, just in time for 2014. The DVD has our new Theme video, as well as our Pray for America video and the brand new Legacy of Prayer video featuring many special guests including Billy and Franklin Graham. The CD-Rom has all our Theme Resources in reproducible, customizable formats along with your new planning guides, sample events, sermon notes, presentations, curriculum, media talking points and more.
We, here at NDP headquarters, are amazed and filled with deep gratitude to see God’s hand of blessing upon our work. And we have every reason to believe that another exciting year is in store for all of us who labor in prayer for our nation! However, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that our past and future success has been in great part due to your partnership. We are honored that you have chosen to stand with us, and I covet your petitions on our behalf as we go forward with preparation for next year’s events. Also, may I ask you to prayerfully consider whether or not the Lord would have you give a financial gift at this time to undergird our Task Force’s efforts? At this crucial crossroads in our country’s history, Americans need to be in prayer, and every gift we receive goes a long way toward bolstering this message and our mission. Much is at stake regarding sanctity of life issues, traditional marriage and the ultimate moral course of our culture. Through the intercession, love and support of those who believe in our cause, we can make a difference! Thanks for allowing us to count on you.
In the coming months, I trust that the Lord will strengthen each of us and that millions of our fellow citizens will acknowledge His sovereign Hand upon the United States. May God’s abundant grace and peace be with you and your loved ones in the days ahead!
