Volunteers are the All-Stars with the National Day of Prayer

The volunteers are the all-stars in the National Day of Prayer. This national organization and ministry is dependent on thousands of volunteers across America. These volunteers are the load-bearing beams in the entire National Day of Prayer ministry. On Thursday, November 2, volunteer leaders with the National Day of Prayer from across the country will converge upon Colorado Springs, Colorado. No less than two hundred leaders will come to be equipped and be inspired so they can better mobilize unified public prayer for America. Join Us Live on Thursday Night On Thursday evening, I will be speaking to our volunteers, ministry... Read more >>

Denominations, Conventions, and Networks, Join Us in Praying for America in 2018

While the churches of America are God’s footprints in our nation, denominations, conventions, and networks provide leadership, organization, and service to these churches. There are over 200 denominations in America. Additionally, there are many groups that function like a denomination, but do not label themselves as one. While some of these groups may come together around their doctrine or mission, others come together around both. While the doctrinal, missional, and practical variances are real among these groups, is there anything we can do together? There is at Least One Thing We Can Do Together: Pray for America  If Christians are going... Read more >>

When the Pastor Receives Criticism

After thirty-one years of serving the same church, I can assure you that as a pastor, you will receive criticism. Understanding this is part of reality will help see you through the grim times. I know many pastors, and each one has undergone criticism. Criticism is inescapable in the life of a pastor. Few things challenge a pastor more than criticism.  There have been times when criticism has absolutely devastated me. It is especially difficult to receive criticism when given by someone you respect deeply or by someone who has completely misunderstood a situation. Criticism can sideline or paralyze you, or... Pastors and Churches, Help Us Pray for America in 2018

The churches in America are God’s footprints in our nation. God’s churches are blessed and anointed by Him, and the greatest network our nation has. As President of the National Day of Prayer and Senior Pastor of a local church, I am convinced that we cannot complete our mission of mobilizing unified public prayer for America without the support of the pastors and churches in America. Our priority must be to mobilize pastors and churches to pray for America. Appealing to Pastors and Churches I appeal to pastors and churches in America, will you join us in praying for... 4 Ways I Have Made It Through Difficult Seasons of Ministry

Disappointment leads to discouragement in ministry. As I have shared with pastors before, you must see these times as seasons, meaning they come and go. Nevertheless, how do you make it through the difficult seasons of ministry? The best way I can share about this subject is to relate how I personally have made it through difficult seasons of ministry. Let me give you four ways I have made it through these seasons. 1. Do not ever neglect your personal time with God daily. A consistent, daily time with God will help you make it through the difficult seasons of ministry.... Read more >>

Dave Butts, NDP Board Chairman on Awaken the Dawn

Has something started? Saturday, Oct.7, 2017 is marked in my mind and heart as one of the most extraordinary days I've ever experienced.  That's kind of funny because it doesn't involve one of those big, memorable events that so often mark our memories. I was in Washington DC for the Awaken the Dawn days of worship and prayer. Though there was a main stage and some really great worship leaders and speakers, that's not what I will carry with me through my life. What impacted me most were 50 tents, one for each state, along with 8 larger tents... Read more >>
